2024 FOBANA Scholarship
FOBANA SCHOLARSHIP 2023-2024

INVITATION TO APPLICANTS
FOBANA will be awarding deserving candidates with a one-time scholarship of $1,000.00 which the recipients can use to finance certain needs as they prepare for College.
The criteria that applicants must fulfill are as follows:
• The FOBANA’s policy is to hold an essay competition in the Host City where the convention is being held that year. For FOBANA 2024, the applicant (a) must be residing in the state of Texas, and (b) was born in the U.S. of Bangladeshi ancestry or a Bangladeshi-born with legal status here.
• 2024 graduate from High school with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 –4.0.
• Must demonstrate community involvement including but not limited to community involvement in the Bangladeshi American community (ex. volunteering for a Bangladeshi organization/association in any capacity), attending Bangla school, taking courses, or writing a paper on Bangladesh in high school.
• Complete the Application Form and attach all the necessary items as requested in the application form
• Write a 500-word essay on the subject matter that is stated in the application form.
• An independent panel will be chosen to score the essays.
•All completed forms and required materials must be received on or before August 15, 2024
• The FOBANA Scholarship Committee together with FOBANA Executive Committee will decide on the recipients of the Scholarships.
• The Scholarships will be presented during the FOBANA Convention, August 31 – Sept 1, 2024, at Crystal Gateway Marriott, Arlington, Varginia.
